Performance transactions are distributed traces of application requests or background jobs. Each API request you instrument, each background job execution, and each page load tracked generates one transaction. A web app handling 1,000 requests per day generates about 30,000 transactions per month. Use sampling (tracesSampleRate: 0.1) to reduce this — 10% sampling gives you 3,000 representative transactions instead.
